After explaining that he was a creation of the greatest minds that inhabited the station, Legion offers a token of good faith by demonstrating his incredible technological intelligence. When aboard, Kryten notes that his scanner registers a life-form, despite not showing one earlier, which soon appears before them as a mysterious entity called Legion. As the ship passes by a deserted space station, it is pulled in by a tractor beam, and the crew opt to explore the station for supplies. However, Kryten informs Arnold Rimmer that the ship is running low on food and water.

Regrettably, the group must evacuate Davids mind, leaving behind David. Furthermore, it goes deeper into the conversation of our devils/demons aren’t always a catalyst for bad things, rather something we as individuals must overcome. It is his darkest demon and Syd must deal with the devil in order to continue to be with David. This devil living inside of David is a manifestation of the true problem he has, whether David is a hero or villain. Out of all the awful images seen in Davids mind (including his infidelity and the robbery of his therapist) is the Devil with the Yellow Eyes. As a result, the trip into David’s mind by Syd stands for the idea of intimacy and seeing into another’s soul/past as opposed to hearing about it. The idea behind there being a scared, innocent boy in David’s mind is to contrast his current state of affairs. Once in his mind, she stumbles across a naive, innocent young boy in need of a hug and protection. In the real world, Syd can’t touch David, but she can in her travels into his mind. Her need to save him is ever so clear in Chapter 3.

The relationship between David and Syd is on full display through Legion Season 1. Furthermore, this admission of guilt is prior to having his mind violated. The idea of David’s past life affected by his drug addiction paints a picture of frailty and warped reality.
Bird and Davids relationship.Įlsewhere on the show, David admits that his past as a junkie has led him to where he currently is. The story serves as a precursor to the fate of Dr. The story of the crane and the temptation alludes to choices in life, the need to know something no matter how much it may truly cost you. The crane flies away, never returning to them again. The reveal is the woman is the crane they rescued prior.
Of course the temptation of needing to know how she works becomes too much for the couple. The catch is they can never watch her work. The mystery woman is a talented seamstress that brings the couples riches and wealth. Continuously, a woman appears at the couples doorstep seeking shelter and they invite her end. There is a couple that come across a crane and they save it from the conditions. Bird is waiting for her coffee as the tale begins. The episode begins with an allegory told from the view of a coffe pot. In Chapter 3 of Legion, the goal is to understand David’s psyche and unlock the mystery of his powers. David is a truly complex individual with a past that continues peeling away with each episode.
